WE ARE ONE is located near Imperial Courts projects. It's a symbolic message of uniting the projects in Watts. Imperial Courts, Nickerson Gardens, and Jordan Downs are all projects that are next to each other each with their own rivalry gangs. This message is getting back to the unity of this area to bring it amongst all the communities in these projects.
The people in Imperial Courts have shared the positive impact as this message has become a daily reminder of the unity in their community and also in the greater Watts community.
The first Artfully United award from the city was received during this mural's unveiling ceremony. The California State Assembly from Mike Gibson's office awarded Michael Norice a certificate of recognition that Inpires hope, unites generateions, and encourages peace within the 64th district.
